Chester “Chet” Leland Nitz, 96, of Baroda passed away Tuesday, January 5, 2021 at Hanson Hospice Center, Stevensville.
Private family services were held at Pike Funeral and Cremation Services, Boyd Chapel, 9191 Red Arrow Highway, Bridgman. Burial was in Ruggles Cemetery, Baroda. Chet was born December 7 1924 in Baroda the son of the late Herman and Hazel (Sorget) Nitz. On September 29, 1984, he married Valeria Alice Belanger. Chet served in the U.S. Navy and was a member of Baroda American Legion Post 345. He was employed at Whirlpool for over 30 years. Chet enjoyed fishing and hunting. He was a faithful member of St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church.
Chester is survived his wife Valeria; children: Monty Nitz, Vickie Nitz, Christine (Robert) Getz, Jonathan Belanger, James (Julie) Belanger and Timothy (Julie) Belanger; eight grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and a expected great great grandchild in June; siblings: Elaine Lochner, Kenneth (Ginger) Nitz and Larry (Ginny) Nitz; sister-in-law: Marge Nitz.
Chester was also preceded in death by his brother, Harold Nitz;
