Janice Fay Bass McAlpine, 84, passed away Saturday, November 14, 2020 at West Woods Nursing Home in Bridgman.

Janice was born and raised in Benton Harbor, graduating from Benton Harbor High School in 1954 and with honors from Lake Michigan College with an Associate Degree in Dietary Science. She also attended Kalamazoo College and worked at Heath Co. and C&T Cleaners.

Janice was a cosmopolitan and educated woman living in New York City and Los Angeles and was married to Robert McAlpine of Wichita, Kansas for 6 years. She also lived in Gardena, CA working as a receptionist and in a dental lab in Los Angeles. Returned to Benton Harbor and was a member of the Dial-A-Ride and Inter Care Board Of Directors. Spent her remaining days in Hallmark and West Woods of Bridgman nursing homes. There will be no Funeral or Memorial per her wishes.

Preceded in death by her parents, Floyd E. Bass and Marie Lena Bass, her brother Floyd "Hige" Bass, and nephew Jason E Bass. Survived by sister Joyce Edwards, brother Mark Bass , and many nephews and nieces and great nephews and nieces. Special thanks to niece Karla Bass, nephew Jeremy Edwards and Carolyn Turner Meyers for their support.

Janice was a kind compassionate and beautiful soul always remembering birthdays and keeping in touch with all family. She will be remembered and she will be missed.
