John Gilman

John Edward Gilman went into the loving arms of his Savior on Sunday, January 3, 2021 at Spectrum Health Lakeland, St. Joseph.

A family graveside services was held at Graceland Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Trinity Lutheran Church, 5791 Sawyer Road, Sawyer, MI 49125. Online condolences accepted at www.PikeFH.com

He was born September 19, 1938 in New Troy, the son of the late Elmer and Eleanor (Atkinson) Gilman.  He graduated from New Troy High School and proudly served in the United States Air Force. On March 30, 1962 John married the love of his life, Shirley Goodline in Stevensville. He worked at Bendix Corporation and  then for many years at Weldun International, retiring from Robert Bosch in Bridgman.  John was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. John loved being friends with everyone and of course there wasn’t a new gadget that John wasn’t aware of or already had and he loved being on the computer with his friends.

Survivors include his wife, Shirley; daughters: Pam (Steve) Schmaltz and Julie Gilman, both of Baroda; grandchildren: Adam (Andrea) Schmaltz and Samantha (Ryan) Randall; great grandchildren: Aislinn, Kai, Gabriel and soon to arrive baby, Joy; brother: Richard (Jean) Gilman of Pensacola, Florida; brother-in-law: Johnny Lentz Goodline and several nephews.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the Boyd Chapel of Pike Funeral and Cremations Service, 9191 Red Arrow Highway, Bridgman.
