William Charles Deetjen, 75 of Sawyer passed away on Monday, December 28, 2020 at his home.

Memorial services will be held 11 AM Saturday, January 2, 2021 at Harbert Community Church, 6444 Harbert Road, Harbert with Reverend Jay S. Fast officiating.  Friends may meet the family from 10-11 AM at the church prior to the service.  Memorial contributions may be given to Morning Star Children, checks can be made payable to “James 1:27" PO Box 197, Harbert MI 49115. Bill was born January 6, 1945 in Chicago, the son of the late Donald and Eleanor (Peters) Deetjen. On October 4, 1969 he married Patricia Throgmorton.  He owned and operated Deetjen Concrete. He was a member of Harbert Community Church. Bill had a gift of loving people. He saw the best in them. He was a good listener, a faithful friend and a prayer warrior. He loved making people laugh and having fun. People of all ages were attracted to Bill when his grandchildren were young he modified his bike so he could ride with all of them in tow. They rode in the Blossom time and Cherry festival parades. Bill loved to work. He was always coming up with projects to help people. One of his greatest joys was building a playground for the children in Nairobi at Morningstar orphanage. He loved the Lord deeply and expressed his love through his yearly light display on Marquette Woods Road.

Survivors include his wife of 51 years, Patricia; daughters: Christie (Brian) Berrier and Kelly (Eraclio) Rodriguez; a son: Erik Deetjen; seven grandchildren; a brother: Douglas (Sue) Deetjen and a sister, Kay Miller.

Bill was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Keri Deetjen and three brothers: Donald, Philip and James Deetjen.

Arrangements entrusted to Pike Funeral and Cremation Services, the Boyd Chapel,  9191 Red Arrow Highway, Bridgman.
